About 30 members of Veterans For Ron Paul, some dripping with sweat, marched more than seven miles from the Paul Fest at the Fair Grounds to a shelter on North Nebraska that cares for homeless vets.

The group arrived shortly after 1 p.m. They came bearing $1,000 in cash donations and pledges to help the homeless at the New Beginnings Emergency Shelter, 8535 N. Nebraska Ave.

Cory Kenneth Peterson, 39, a retired Air Force captain from St. Paul, Minn., said that in addition to cash, the group and its supporters will donate hundreds of t-shirts as well as a supply of meat to the shelter, which serves 150 daily.
