Songwriting icon Leonard Cohen is extending his successful "Old Ideas World Tour" to include a concert in Tampa.
Cohen, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and one of the most acclaimed and accomplished songwriters of the past 40 years, will perform at the Straz Center on March 18 at 8 p.m.
Tickets, ranging from $59.50 to $250, go on sale at noon Jan. 18 through the Straz Center's ticket office or through strazcenter.org.
Beginning with his 1967 release "Songs of Leonard Cohen," Cohen has sold more than 20 million albums over his career. His most widely-known song, "Hallelujah," has found new life in recent years, having been covered by everyone from Willie Nelson to k.d. Lang to Justin Timberlake.
Cohen spent much of 2012 touring behind "Old Ideas," his first studio album since 2004. The newly-announced second leg of the tour includes another Florida date at Miami's James L. Knight Center (March 19), as well as 17 other concerts around the nation and Canada.
