Police: St. Pete Condo Complex Manager Bilked Association

The former property manager of a St. Petersburg condominium complex turned himself in to police today to face charges that include transferring $250,000 to his account and using it as a down payment for a $2.6 million home in Tampa.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said that in December, Kevin Thomas Hoggarth, 41, told the treasurer of the Bayfront Towers Condominium Association to transfer $250,000 into an account to pay a contractor for repairs.

Hoggarth, of Northport, was property manager for the downtown St. Petersburg condominium association.

Instead, police said, he transferred the money to himself and used it as a down payment for the home.

He was charged with first-degree grand theft, police said.

Hogarth also faces a charge of dealing in stolen property. Police said he pawned a laptop computer owned by the association on June 19.

On June 20 and 23, Hoggarth wrote checks to himself from the association account, one for $1,005 and one for $893.66, police said. He is charged with two counts of forgery.

He turned himself in to police at 2 p.m. today and was taken to Pinellas County Jail, police said.
