In February, the financial services company USAA announced plans to hire 400 people in Tampa. Now, plans have changed.
The company will now hire fewer than that - for a couple of reasons.
First, more USAA employees agreed to relocate to Tampa from locations that USAA is shrinking or shutting down, said company spokesman Dave Pacholczyk.
Three out of five employees affected by consolidations in Sacramento and Norfolk will stay with the company, some by moving to other USAA locations in the United States.
Also, fewer employees overall are leaving the company, he said, meaning ranks aren't shrinking as much as planned.
The company still plans to hire some people in Tampa, and has open positions to fill. Just not as many, though the company doesn't have an exact figure as to how many.
