Defense contractor Lockheed Martin is interviewing for as 100 skilled positions in Florida during a job fair under way today at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 5303 W. Kennedy Blvd.
About 50 people had visited the interview site by noon, said Tiffany Bell, strategic planner for Lockheed Martin.
The company is looking for intelligence analysts, engineering and information technology professionals. The job fair runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The main focus of today's fair is 100 jobs now available in the region, including Tampa, Orlando and Melbourne, Bell said.
Applicants should bring a resume and require a government security clearance at the "secret" level or above, Bell said.
Some of the positions are available in Iraq and Afghanistan, through the Pentagon's Tampa-based U.S. Central Command.
This is the only job fair Lockheed Martin has scheduled for the year in Tampa but the company routinely takes part in larger local fairs sponsored by the federal government and private employment companies.
Lockheed has about 1,000 positions available worldwide. Anyone interested can visit the careers section of the company's Web site, www.lockheedmartin.com.
Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 146,000 people worldwide. The corporation reported 2008 sales of $42.7 billion.
