The Zagat 2009 airline survey released today ranks Tampa International Airport second nationwide in overall airport quality, behind Portland International Airport in Oregon. Tampa ranked first in Zagat's 2008 survey.
The airports in Detroit, Orlando and Minneapolis/St.Paul ranked third through fifth respectively in the poll of 5,895 frequent fliers and travel agents, who took 97,600 flights collectively in the past year.
New York's LaGuardia Airport ranked last for the third consecutive survey.
Continental Airlines ranked first among large domestic carriers offering a premium class, while JetBlue Airways ranked first among large domestic carriers providing economy class seats.
Continental and Southwest Airlines ranked tops among airlines lines for best value.
Those surveyed ranked direct routes (68 percent), ticket price (61 percent), seat comfort and leg room (51 percent), past experience (49 percent), time of day (48 percent) and frequent flyer miles (42 percent) among the most important considerations for choosing an airline.
