St. Petersburg Times executive leaving

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The St. Petersburg Times announced to employees Tuesday that it is re-organizing its audience development department and that the director of that department, Jerry Hill, is leaving.

Andy Corty, a spokesman for the Times, said the newspaper continues to restructure to "get the size of the company matched up with the revenue," during difficult market conditions.

The announcement comes on the heels of another senior executive's announced departure. Marty Petty, publisher of the Times, said last month that she is resigning in an effort to streamline management.

Newspapers across the nation have been struggling with loss of revenue and a tough economy as advertisers migrate to the Web and other forms of media. The Tampa Tribune reorganized and trimmed staff over the past two years to match lower revenue expectations, and the Times has had at least one round job eliminations and recently sold Congressional Quarterly, a journal of legislative news in Washington, D.C.
