A human resources and benefits company plans to hire 220 people at its St. Petersburg operations, the company said Monday.
Ceridian Corp. of Minneapolis already employs about 1,000 people at its campus on 34th Street in St. Petersburg. It expects to hire another 220 people over the course of 2011, company spokesman Cary Griffith said.
The new jobs will work in Ceridian's human resource management solutions division, providing businesses with payroll processing, benefits administration and other services. Other new employees will work in Ceridian's Comdata unit, which handles credit and payment mechanisms for the transportation industry.
The new jobs will have an average wage of $45,188, said Stacey Swank of the Pinellas County Economic Development department.
The benefits to St. Petersburg, however, come at the expense of some Ceridian employees in Raleigh, N.C. The company is consolidating operations there into the St. Petersburg operation, Griffith said.
Ceridian is eligible for up to $1.87 million in tax refunds if it creates the 220 jobs. The refunds will come through various state and local incentive programs, with the state picking up about 80 percent of the incentives' cost and St. Petersburg and Pinellas County each picking up 10 percent.
Jobseekers are encouraged to visit Ceridian's Web site, at www.ceridian.com, and click on the careers link. On Monday, the company's website listed 29 positions available at its St. Petersburg location.
