Tampa Bay area residents will have more airline choices for traveling to Gulfport-Biloxi, Miss.
AirTran Airways announced Thursday it will add service from Tampa International Airport to Biloxi beginning Jan. 8. The flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, using Boeing 717 airplanes.
That's the second airline in two days announcing it would start service from the Bay area to Gulfport-Biloxi beginning Jan. 8.
On Wednesday, Vision Airlines said it would begin nonstop service from St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport to Gulfport-Biloxi on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays using Boeing 737s.
Allegiant Airlines currently flies three days a week from the Pinellas airport to Gulfport-Biloxi under a contract with the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.
