Study: Jobs growing in green sector

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The fledgling renewable energy industry has been growing for years, with more than twice the national average percentage job growth during much of the past decade.

A study released Wednesday by the Pew Charitable Trusts found that clean energy jobs grew by 9.1 percent compared with a national average of 3.7 percent from 1998 to 2007, the latest year available.

The group says Florida saw a 7.9 percent increase in clean energy jobs in that period and is among the top 10 states for jobs in the industry.

The most recent data does not include the effects of the recession, which has hit every industry.

The report used private jobs data that included information about employers, and Pew researchers spent nearly a year determining which to include in the clean energy economy.
