Even Nordstrom jumps into summer clearance

Gasp! A clearance sale at Cole Haan and — wait for it — Nordstrom?

Nordstrom has its semi-annual men's sale going on, with about half the floor space devoted to clearance racks. Shirts that normally sell for $70 on sale for $35. T-shirts for about half off and shorts deeply discounted.

Just wandering around International Plaza, we noted these deals:

Cole Haan, 40 percent off men's and women's footwear, bags, accessories and outerwear; Pacific Sun, 50 percent off shorts and bikinis; Aeropostale, up to 70 percent; Express, end of season 70 percent; American Eagle, 60 percent; Victoria's Secret, Hollister, Gap, Destination Maternity, and Ann Taylor, Cache, all 50 percent.

Tampa residents get cheap yoga classes

The Tampa Parks and Recreation Department is offering yoga classes at the Joe Abrahams Fitness & Wellness Center, 5212 Interbay Blvd.

The fee is $6 per class. A Tampa Parks and Recreation Department Rec Card is required for participation and costs $15 for city residents. To purchase a Rec Card, visit a community center.

Summer sale at Crate & Barrel

Crate & Barrel is having a summer sale going on now with some merchandise up to 60 percent off.

In some cases they have furniture floor samples on sale. Their outdoor patio furniture is also on sale.

Do-it-yourselfers can change the oil free

A quick heads-up to everyone who likes to save money by changing their car oil themselves.

I've found a rebate from Green Earth Technologies that will give you back the $26 you spent on their 5-quart bottle of motor oil. I've been told you can find G-Oil at Wal-Mart.

Outdoor furniture deals are everywhere

If you're in the market for patio furniture and outdoor décor, this is the time of the year to shop around. 

Right now Target, Kohl's and Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores already have patio furniture and décor marked 50 to 60 percent off. You need to check at various Targets because the sales vary store to store. 

Kohl's has Antigravity chairs for $54.99 that regularly were $129.99. 

Stores such as Kmart and Target clear out the summer furniture area near the Fourth of July.

Dress like a cow, get a free chicken

Here's advance notice that if you want to take advantage of Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A, start working on your costume now.

The annual day to dress up like a cow and get a free chicken meal is July 8.
