A 61-year-old Port Richey woman was arrested on a DUI charge Monday afternoon after colliding with a Pasco deputy's cruiser.
Lorraine Leverone-Pothier rear-ended Deputy Wainetta Bishop's cruiser after failing to notice the cars in front of her were stopped for traffic north on U.S. 19 near Hudson Avenue, a Florida Highway Patrol report states. The crash caused Bishop's cruiser to bump the car in front of her.
Bishop, 37, was taken to a local hospital as a precaution but was not seriously injured, said sheriff's office spokesman Kevin Doll. The other driver, Temela Jones, 50, of Aripeka refused treatment.
When troopers arrived at the scene they found Leverone-Pothier sitting in the driver's seat of a green Jeep with heavy damage in the front. She was lethargic and had a blank stare, a trooper wrote in the arrest affidavit. Leverone-Pothier agreed to do sobriety tests but swayed and otherwise did poorly, according to the affidavit.
Leverone-Pothier, of 7117 Tudor Lane, was booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail on charges of DUI and DUI with property damage or injured person. Bail was set at $500.
