A collision between a tractor trailer and a minivan killed one person and shut down part of State Road 54 in Pasco County this afternoon.
The crash happened on eastbound SR 54 at Mitchell Ranch Road in New Port Richey about 12:45 p.m. A person in the van was killed, authorities said. There is no word on other injuries or what caused the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol and Pasco County Sheriff's Office are both on the scene.
After the collision, the truck struck a power pole. Crews are on scene fixing the power line.
Authorities have shut down all eastbound lanes while they investigate. The westbound lanes are open, but traffic is moving slowly.
