Excerpts from Rosa Bradley's call to 911 at 1:08 a.m. Wednesday
(Initially, Bradley calls in anonymously and does not say Michael Allen Phillips called her about shooting a deputy. Bradley tells the operator after the 911 operator calls her back to ask questions.)
Bradley: I want to know if can make an emergency phone call without being involved.
Operator: About what?
Bradley: My neighbor is shooting his gun off in his front yard….at 1707 Village Court, Brandon.
Operator: What is he shooting at?
Bradley: In his front yard in the air.
Operator: What kind of gun?
Bradley: It's like a handgun.
Operator: Shooting for no reason?
Bradley: Don't know. He's outside on his phone, shooting in the air walking toward people, talking to neighbors.
Operator: OK.
Bradley: Is this going to be tracked to me?
Operator: No, we won't say who called.
End of call.
Sheriff's office calls her back.
Bradley: Hello?
Operator: We are in the process of working something big. The deputies need to speak with you.
Bradley: I'll be honest with you, Ma'am. I am his girlfriend and he's calling me and shooting that gun off threatening me and I don't want to be involved. It's why I'm scared. It is why I called because I think he is drunk… (unintelligible.)
Operator: What I'm trying to tell you is he may have actually shot somebody. We need you to step outside.
Bradley: I am not in that area.
Operator: At the address in [1707] Village Court?
Bradley: No, he called me shooting a gun and threatening me.
Operator: OK, do you have any idea what he looks like?
Bradley: Michael, yes. If you look him up, Michael Phillips, he has a long criminal rap sheet.
Operator: Date of birth?
Bradley: 5/27/83. He's a very violent person. I am scared he'll go and shoot at my family.
Operator: OK. That's what we're trying to prevent. That's why I need as much information.
Bradley: OK. He's at that house. I don't live there. I left him a month ago. That is the address where all this is happening.
Operator: Did you see him today? What color clothing he has on?
Bradley: He has on… he probably changed. He has blue jeans with a white shirt with brown trimming on the top of it.
Bradley: Can I ask you a question? Does it involve a shooting with an officer?
Operator: Yes.
Bradley: Yes? Because you have the right person, OK?
Operator: Why would you say that?
Bradley: Because he told me that he shot a cop three times.
Operator: Earlier today?
Bradley: Just a minute ago. He called me, 'Don't tell them where I'm at.' He's going to kill my family and kill me too. I made the courtesy call to be a good person. I'm really scared.
Operator: You are going to have to talk to the deputy over the phone or in person.
Bradley: I'll do… (unintelligible)
Operator: Sorry, you are not going to have a choice on this.
This is a big deal.
Bradley: I know it is. That's why I called.
