POLK COUNTY - Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine how a Lakeland man was stabbed to death in a Lake Alfred home early this morning.
At 3:23 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Lake Alfred Police Department and asked to assist with a death investigation, according to a sheriff's office realease. When deputies and detectives arrived at 160 West Alfred St., they found Jarrod A. Boone, 26, of 1210 Lakepoint Drive in Lakeland, dead from apparent stab wounds, the release said.
A witness told investigators a female at the West Alfred Street residence called a friend and told him she was being "disrespected," the sheriff's office said. That friend, along with two other men and Boone, went to the home, the release said.
When Boone entered the home uninvited, he was stabbed by Matthew Alexander Weiand, 19, of 2020 Ariana Blvd. in Auburndale, sheriff's officials said.
All witnesses are cooperating with detectives, and sheriff's detectives and the State Attorney's Office will determine if any charges will be filed, sheriff's officials said. An autopsy will determine the precise cause of Boone's death.
