CLEARWATER A 58-year-old man was killed this morning after a three-car accident on Keene Road and Drew Street, police said.
Edward Robert Tibbatts of 1746 Grate Brikhill Road, struck a Chevy truck that was towing a 30-foot boat just before 10 a.m. The impact pushed the truck causing another car to strike it, police said.
Tibbatts was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said. His 6-year-old daughter was in a child safety seat and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
Her injuries are not life threatening, police said.
John Bujalski, 51, of Clearwater, was driving the Chevy truck northbound on Keene Road. He was making a left turn onto Drew Street. That's when Tibbats, driving a gray Hyundai, was heading southbound on the inside lane on Keene Road and entered the intersection, striking the truck as it was making its turn.
The truck was then struck by a Buick driven by Frank Lang, 60, of Clearwater. The crash sent Lang and the Buick off the road, colliding with a chain link fence. Bujalski was taken to Morton Plant Hospital. His injuries were not life threatening, officials said.
Lang was checked out at the scene. Investigators are trying to determine which driver was at fault.
