CLEARWATER - A 68-year-old man died after a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 19 near Drew Street on Monday, public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Daly-Watts said.
Michael Porter of 2623 Hemlock Drive was driving a 2003 Ford Mustang northbound on U.S. 19 just before 2 p.m. when he attempted to turn onto Drew Street.
Instead of making the left onto the street, the car crossed a raised median and entered the southbound lanes on Frontage Road-U.S. 19. Traveling on the wrong side of the road, the Mustang struck a Hummer and a Volkswagen Jetta.
Porter died at the scene, authorities said. The driver of the Jetta, Richard Bishop, 52, of 1650 Candy Oaks Blvd, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. His injuries were not life threatening, officials said.
Three others refused treatment. The crash is under investigation.
