TIA Flights Rank 5th


The percentage of on-time arrivals and departures at Tampa International Airport slipped slightly in October compared with a year ago. But Tampa ranked as the fifth-best U.S. airport for departure performance with 84.6 percent of flights leaving within 15 minutes of schedule and 15th in arrivals with 79.1 percent meeting the Department of Transportation's on-time benchmark. Airline performance nationwide improved over a year ago with 78.2 percent of flights arriving on-time compared with 72.9 percent in October 2006, reports from 20 airlines showed.

News Chief Sale Completed


Morris Communications Co. LLC completed its sale of The News Chief newspaper in Winter Haven and 13 other publications and properties to Fairport, N.Y.-based GateHouse Media, for $115 million, the company said Monday. The Polk County daily newspaper's circulation is about 7,500.

U.S. Seeks China Safety


China should agree to certify products imported into the United States to guarantee safety, said Michael Leavitt, secretary of the Health and Human Services Department. Leavitt has scheduled a trip to China, where he plans to conclude agreements intended to prevent shipments of tainted goods.


Fox Plans ITunes Sales


Twentieth Century Fox plans to sell digital versions of its movies on Apple's iTunes store simultaneous with their release on DVD. Fox would make new releases and catalog titles available through iTunes in early 2008.


Auto Sales Mixed


General Motors Corp.'s U.S. sales dropped 11 percent in November, hurt by falling demand for trucks as well as cuts in sales to rental car fleets. Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. both reported flat sales for the month, while Honda Motor Co.'s sales were up 5 percent while Nissan Motor Co.'s sales rose 6 percent.

Game Deal Boosts Stock


Shares of Vivendi SA and Activision Inc. rose Monday in the wake of their planned deal to create a rival to Electronic Arts as the world's top video game publisher. Vivendi shares gained 1 percent to close at $46.42 in trading Monday in Paris. Activision shares rose $3.34, or 15.1 percent, to $25.49 in New York trading.
