TAMPA - A Tampa man shot his roommate in the chest, pointed the gun at a teenager's head and then ran off Saturday night, Pasco County deputies said Sunday.
Deputies arrested Sean Christopher Stewart, 34, nearly five hours after the 11:45 p.m. shooting in Land O'Lakes. He faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
His 34-year-old roommate, James Scott Baisden, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa after the shooting at 2614 Shade Crest Drive. He was in stable condition Sunday.
During a house party, Stewart told people someone had stolen the two firearms he had at the residence, according to a sheriff's office release. He then fought with four to five people.
After the fight, he spit blood on a plate and showed it to another person at the party, saying, "This is what you're going to look like in the morning," according to the release.
He left the home, got a .22-caliber handgun and came back to the party, Tobin said. Stewart said he was trying to recover his property.
Stewart knocked on the front door. When Baisden opened the door, Stewart fired the gun twice, shooting Baisden once in the chest, investigators said. Stewart also pointed the gun within inches of 18-year-old Joseph Edward Landeshi's head before fleeing to the front of a neighboring home, deputies said.
Stewart, of 9319 Dartmouth Ave., is being held in a Land O'Lakes detention center with no bail set.
