Roll A Few To Ring In New Year

HUDSON - Bowlers who are looking for a different way to celebrate ringing in the new year can try combining celebrating and bowling at Hudson Bowl in Hudson.

On Dec. 31, the center will host a New Year's Eve party. For $25 a person, bowlers can have four hours of unlimited bowling from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. The event includes a free hot food buffet, a champagne toast at midnight and noise makers.

In past years the event has sold out quickly. As a result, Hudson Bowl is encouraging bowlers to register early. For information, call Hudson Bowl at (727) 863-5481.

Not to be outdone, Lane Glo North bowling center is offering bowling specials through the holiday season.

From Sunday through Wednesdays the center will offer a two-hour lane rental of unlimited bowling during peak hours (7 p.m.-close) for $25. Normally, this is a $44 fee. The offer includes free shoe rental.

During the day from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at Lane Glo North, bowlers can take advantage of $2 per game Sunday through Wednesday with $2 shoe rental.

Thursday evenings, unlimited bowling will be offered from 7 until close for $8 per person. There will be $1 food specials on pizza, hot dogs and other items. Call the center at (727) 848-2566.

SENIOR NO-TAP: Pin Chasers in Zephyrhills will host a senior no-tap tournament Dec. 15, beginning at 1 p.m. Cost of the tournament is $7 and includes complimentary use of house bowling balls and shoes. Prizes will be awarded. For information, call (813) 782-5511.

NORTH-SOUTH TOURNAMENT: The next monthly edition of the Lane Glo Bowl North-South singles handicap tournament, which pits bowlers representing both Lane Glo Bowl in New Port Richey and Lane Glo North in Port Richey, will be Dec. 30.

The tournament, which costs $30 per bowler, begins with four games at Lane Glo North at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with four games at Lane Glo Bowl at noon. First place is $300, second place is $150 and third place is $50. Last month's winners were James Costentino (first), Lee Krieg (second) and John Izydorczyk (third). HONOR SCORES: Some top scores recently recorded at Hudson Bowl include John Martinson 300/792, John Howell 289, Joe Lavoy 299/744, Willie Gay 290 and Len Johnson 765. Top women bowlers scores were Alicia Doane 278/715.
