It's election day again in Lakeland, with Justin Troller and Brian Dockery squaring off in a runoff election for the right to replace retiring commissioner Dean Boring.
The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce is backing Dockery and sent out a letter to its members stating that Troller doesn't have the same stake in the city as Dockery because he doesn't own a home.
Dockery himself echoed that message in a tough mailer that arrived at Lakeland homes late last week.
Troller responded with his own tough mailer, accusing Dockery of breaking Lakeland campaign rules by bringing partisanship into the race.
Dockery is a Republican.
Troller is a Democrat. But Lakeland city elections are nonpartisan.
