A Pasco County woman is recovering after being carjacked, threatened and left tied up in her car in the Ocala National Forest, deputies said.
The woman, who was identified only as a manager of a McDonald's at 2909 U.S. 19 in Holiday, left the restaurant about 7 a.m. Wednesday to make a bank deposit. Her co-workers called the Pasco County Sheriff's Office after several hours passed. They said it was completely out of character for the manager not to answer her cell phone or return to work.
Composite sketch of suspect
Tellers at the bank told deputies they had not seen the missing woman.
Detectives were able to determine the woman's cell phone was in the area of Lake County and asked the Lake County Sheriff's Office for help.
Authorities found her tied up in her car in Ocala National Forest.
She told deputies she had been carjacked in Pasco County and said the man forced her to drive to Lake County before tying her up and leaving her in the forest off State Road 19 just south of Astor.
Lake County deputies used dogs to search the area, but did not find the suspect.
Pasco detectives have released a composite sketch of the woman's abductor.
He is described as being in his early 20s, about 160 pounds with a thick build. He has dark red hair and beard with a pale and pocked-mark complexion and light-colored eyes. He was wearing an orange sweater, bright orange gloves, dark jeans and tan work boots. He was also carrying a backpack.
The woman was taken to Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares to be treated for cuts and bruises. She left the hospital at 2 a.m. today.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Detective Lisa Schoneman with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-854-2862, Extension 7473.
