THE NANNY DIARIES
The best-selling novel about the domestic habits of rich Manhattanites — as seen by the regular folk who raise their children, if by "regular" you mean Scarlett Johansson — makes for an occasionally amusing movie. Laura Linney is wealthy absentee mom Mrs. X; Chris Evans is the hot guy upstairs; Alicia Keys plays Annie, the nanny's best friend; and Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini ("American Splendor") direct.
PG-13; 104 minutes
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END
You say you can't get enough of Keira, Orlando, Johnny and the rest of the "Pirates" crew? Weighing in at nearly three hours — most of which is devoted to a labyrinthine plot involving exotic locales and supernatural flimflam — the third installment in the blockbuster trilogy will delight insatiable fans, who may not notice how little resemblance it bears to the light, lively original.
PG-13; 165 minutes
SUPERBAD
Three awkward (redundancy alert!) teenage guys attempt to navigate the transition to adulthood — which they fervently hope will include a little booty — in this Judd Apatow-esque summer hit, written by Apatow veteran Seth Rogen (who also co-stars) and Evan Goldberg. Successfully mixing raucous humor and an affecting look at adolescent friendship, the movie gets an added boost from young leads Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

ARCTIC TALE
In this not-quite-a-documentary, stunning wildlife footage — compiled over a decade by husband and wife directors Adam Ravetch and Sarah Robertson — is used to create two composite, fictionalized narratives about the lives of Arctic creatures, in this case a polar bear cub and a walrus calf. Queen Latifah provides voiceover narration that tries a bit too hard to be hip and kid-friendly, while driving home an environmental message.

24: SEASON SIX
The sixth season/day of the hit drama picks up almost two years after the shocking (as always) finale of the fifth season, widely regarded as the best of the series so far. Fans were less pleased with this round of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) Saves the World, but may want to check out the DVD for its season seven preview, deleted scenes, Webcast diaries and other special features.
Not rated; 1,050 minutes
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON
The original cast of the influential late-night show — including Gilda Radner, Dan Akroyd and John Belushi — got a welcome addition in 1976-'77 with the arrival of Bill Murray. Other highlights of this eight-disc set include such guest hosts as Jodie Foster, Ralph Nader, Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin, as well as musical performances by The Kinks, Joe Cocker, Paul Simon, Tom Waits and many more.
Not rated; approximately 27 hours
