First daughter Jenna Bush appeared nervous when Ellen DeGeneres asked her to call her parents during a taping of DeGeneres' talk show Tuesday. The show aired Wednesday.

"They're going to kill me," Bush, 26, told DeGeneres. "I'm going to be in so much trouble."

"No, they're going to be thrilled," DeGeneres said. "Why wouldn't they want to say hi to everybody and say Merry Christmas?"

"They may have wanted some warning," responded Bush, who was on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to promote her new book, "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope."

All was well, though, when she reached her parents on speakerphone.

"I'm just sitting here with Daddy," Laura Bush told her daughter, to which DeGeneres chimed in: "Oh hey! It's Ellen. I wanted to say hi to Daddy."

So the president got on the line: "How's my little girl doing?"

"Oh, she's great. She's scared she's going to get in trouble because I just said, 'Is it easy to just pick up the phone and call your dad anytime?'" DeGeneres said. "And now she's scared she's not going to get any Christmas presents."

Bush said he wasn't angry.

'24' Star Gets 48 Days in DUI Case
Kiefer Sutherland was sentenced Wednesday to 48 days in jail for racking up a second drunken-driving arrest in three years and immediately reported to a city lockup.

The star of the Fox TV drama "24" was being processed at the Glendale, Calif., city jail, said Officer John Balian.

Sutherland, 40, who pleaded no contest in October to driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08, appeared in court with his attorney and politely answered the judge's questions, said Assistant City Attorney Dan Jeffries.

His request to serve his time at the Glendale city jail was granted and he was ordered to complete the sentence by March 30, Jeffries said. "Kiefer made the decision to surrender to custody immediately," said his attorney, Blair Berk.

Meyers Apologizes; Charges Are Dropped

Prosecutors dropped charges against Jonathan Rhys Meyers on Wednesday after he expressed remorse - through his lawyer - for being drunk and abusive at Dublin Airport. Rhys Meyers, 30, was arrested Nov. 18. The Irish actor faced two charges of public drunkenness and breach of the peace for being abusive after he was refused permission to board a flight to London.

Rhys Meyers did not appear at the Dublin District Court arraignment Wednesday. State prosecutors said they had accepted an apology from the actor and dropped the charges.

Foster Says She Feels 'Fragile ... Unsure'

Despite being the guest of honor at the Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast, Jodie Foster said: "I don't feel very powerful. ... I feel fragile ... unsure, struggling to figure it all out."

As she accepted the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Tuesday, Foster characterized herself as a "professional" and a "gentleman," adding that after working in entertainment for 42 years, "there's no way you can do that and not be as nutty as a fruitcake."
