LAS VEGAS - Suspended NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones pleaded no contest Thursday to a reduced charge in a Las Vegas strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting that left a man paralyzed.

The Tennessee Titans cornerback appeared in Clark County District Court to take a plea deal that officials said will get him probation in return for his testimony about the gunman who opened fire outside the club at the end of NBA All-Star weekend in February.

The 24-year-old Jones, who is seeking reinstatement to the Titans, said little during the brief arraignment.

Jones will be sentenced to one year of probation for agreeing not to contest a charge of conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct, a gross misdemeanor, and to testify about the gunman.

Prosecutors dropped two charges of coercion, a felony carrying a possible sentence of one to six years in prison.

No one has been charged in shooting, and Las Vegas police have not linked Jones to the gunfire. Police have instead called Jones the instigator of the melee that broke out inside the club after he showered dancers with dollar bills pulled from a black plastic trash bag - a stunt known as "making it rain."

Under the plea deal, Jones will receive a suspended one-year jail sentence, must attend an anger management program, complete 200 hours of community service within a year and submit to random drug testing.

BILLS: Backup running back Anthony Thomas was placed on injured reserve, two weeks after he tore a calf muscle in a 36-14 loss at Jacksonville.

COWBOYS: Cornerback Terence Newman has been put on notice by the NFL after indicating his desire for revenge on Detroit quarterback Jon Kitna.

Posted on Newman's locker Thursday was a letter he received from the NFL after making comments about Kitna during a satellite radio interview. Newman refused comment to reporters when he walked through the locker room.

"Be advised that your comments will now compel us to carefully monitor your activities in Sunday's Cowboys-Lions game," read part of the letter signed by Ray Anderson, NFL executive vice president for football operations. "As you know, flagrant fouls may subject a player not only to fines, but to suspension as well. So conduct yourself accordingly."

Kitna threw four touchdown passes in the regular-season finale in Dallas last year to end a 3-13 season for Detroit. In an interview the following week with a radio station in Seattle, where the Cowboys had to go for the playoffs, Kitna called out the Dallas defense, notably Newman and linebacker Bradie James.

While Newman hasn't spoken to local media this week, he issued what amounted to a warning for Kitna during an interview Tuesday on Sirius NFL Radio.

"Basically what it boils down to is you've got to watch what you say. Your mouth can't write checks that you can't cash. That's what it comes down to," Newman said. "Everybody's going to see those quotes. He better just hope I don't blitz off the edge, because I've got 15, 25, 30 thousand dollars, however much it would be for a fine. I've got that much for one fine. Revenge will be sweet definitely."

FALCONS: Another week, another change at quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.

Coach Bobby Petrino announced Thursday that Chris Redman, who was out of the league the last three seasons, will start against the New Orleans Saints after a strong performance in relief of Joey Harrington.

With Byron Leftwich still hurting and Harrington clearly not the answer, the Falcons (3-9) had little choice except to go with a quarterback who was selling insurance a year ago in their Monday night game against the Saints.

RAMS: Kick returner Dante Hall, who has been hobbled much of the season by a high ankle sprain, was put on injured reserve.
