Many questions must be addressed as the Rays push for a new ballpark by 2012. Here's what's known about a few:
It's already hard finding a parking space downtown. Where would I park for a game?
Prepare to hoof it. There are enough spaces within a 15-minute walk, based on two to three people per car, but how many are available for a game depends on how much competition there is for space as more people, businesses and events move downtown.
Is anyone planning to add parking to accommodate all the added traffic?
No. There's talk of a shuttle from Tropicana Field lots. But it's up in the air because paying for a new stadium means redeveloping that site. Other downtowns absorbed ballparks with no added parking, but most relied on mass transit the Tampa Bay area lacks.
Will cars parking for the baseball game hurt downtown business and events?
Still hard to say. It's a concern of Mayor Rick Baker. He wants to make sure there are enough spaces to go around and that parking wars don't erupt between baseball fans and people going to the Mahaffey Theater, BayWalk and other places.
