NEW PORT RICHEY - Pasco high school students have a chance to sing, dance and act like they're beneath stage lights on The Great White Way.

The Richey Suncoast Theatre is holding auditions for "Ticket to Broadway" at 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the downtown playhouse on Grand Boulevard.

Musicians, singers, dancers, ensembles, comedians, jugglers and tumblers are invited to audition.

Students should use the material they will use in the show if they're selected.

"Ticket to Broadway," entering its fifth year, is produced by Richey Suncoast and the Pasco Education Foundation to promote and recognize the many talented high school students in the area, said Chip Wichmanowski, executive director of the foundation, which raises money for the Pasco County School District.

The musical also helps pay for Richey Suncoast Performing Arts Scholarships for students who want to pursue a college degree in all facets of the performing arts, including set and costume design, and technical production.

Last year's variety show brought in more than $5,000 for the scholarships.

This year, Wachovia bank is sponsoring "Ticket to Broadway," scheduled for 8 p.m. Feb 1 and 2 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3.
General admission is $10.

"We are excited and honored to provide support for this outstanding program," said Larry Starnes, Wachovia's president for Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties.

"These student performers are excellent representatives of the many talented young people in our Pasco County community."

Wichmanowski said he's "got a feeling this will be the biggest year yet."

"The program has grown in popularity," he noted, "and has become highly competitive."
Corporate sponsorships are $300 and include the company name and/or logo in the playbill and 10 choice seat tickets to any of the three shows.

For details, call the Richey Suncoast box office at (727) 842-6777 or Wichmanowski at (813) 794-2705.
