Over the last few weeks numerous articles have appeared stating the Legislature will be looking for more things to tax. There also appeared an article by Curt Kiser ("Florida Needs Tax Reform, Not Tax Relief," Other Views, Nov. 20), a former Florida legislator, advocating finding more things to tax rather than providing any tax relief. There also has been article after article of nothing but the Legislature giving our hard-earned tax monies to special interests.
The Rays want millions of dollars to build a new stadium for a losing team; CSX, a for-profit corporation, will get almost $500 million, not counting the millions they have already robbed the taxpayers of under the guise of "railroad crossing safety;" and let us not forget the school bureaucracy which to date has millions of dollars either unaccounted for or lost through total mismanagement.
I have mentioned just a few while there are a great many more. There is no need to tax more things as there is no shortage of tax monies. Better management and more prudent use of those dollars they have already received is all that is needed.
