Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, South Florida F defensive end George Selvie and Central Florida running back Kevin Smith were announced as selections to the Football Writers Association of America's 64th All-America Team on Saturday afternoon.
With the honor, Selvie assured himself of being a consensus All-American.
Selvie also has been named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, Rivals.com and CBSSportsline.com.
He is the first consensus honoree in USF history.
NAVY NAMES COACH: Navy wasted little time finding a new football coach, promoting assistant Ken Niumatalolo on Saturday to replace Paul Johnson, who left Friday to take over at Georgia Tech.
The 42-year-old Niumatalolo is believed to be the NCAA's first Polynesian head coach.
Niumatalolo had two coaching stints at the Naval Academy for a total of 10 seasons, including the last six, when he was assistant head coach and offensive line coach.
Niumatalolo will coach the Midshipmen against Utah in the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 20.
BUTKUS AWARD: Ohio State's James Laurinaitis won the Butkus Award late Friday night in Orlando as the nation's best linebacker.
The junior became the second Buckeyes player to win the Butkus, joining Andy Katzenmoyer in 1997. Laurinaitis beat out Penn State's Dan Connor and Colorado's Jordan Dizon.
