HOLIDAY - Deputies shot a man twice when he wouldn't show his hands after they responded to a fight Sunday night at Buena Vista Trailer Park, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
David Wayne Foley, 46, of 2050 Orange Drive, Holiday, was listed in critical but stable condition at Tampa General Hospital on Sunday night, authorities said.
Four deputies went to 2050 Orange Drive, responding to a call about a fight and a man with a gun. Deputies saw a man across the street at 2046 Orange Drive with a hand behind his back. He initially would not show his hand to deputies.
Two deputies took out their Tasers and two had their guns drawn.
"Two deputies deployed their tasers, and one eyewitness said it had very little effect on the individual," sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said. "The man did have his hand behind his back. He revealed his hand, and the initial report was there was some sort of weapon in his hand, and that's when the other deputies, with their firearms displayed, fired, hitting the individual."
The shooting occurred at 9:40 p.m. None of the deputies was injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
