Deputies Seek Owner Of Ford, Trailer Found In Canal

Authorities are searching for the owner of a 1994 Ford Explorer and a homemade trailer found in a canal in Apollo Beach, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

The vehicle and a trailer full of household belongs were spotted behind 201 Flamingo Drive, west of U.S. 41.

Deputies ran a check on the license plate and determined the owner is Jose Hernandez Ortega, age unknown, Carter said. They went to his last known address on Laguna Oaks Place in Ruskin, but the occupants said he had not lived there "for some time," she said.

The canal water is low, and footprints could be seen on top of the vehicle, Carter said.
