ST. PETERSBURG A man was carjacked while in the drive-through of a McDonald's restaurant late Monday night, police said.
Two men, one wearing a black ski mask and the other with a white shirt pulled around his head, approached a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the eatery at 1661 Fourth St. S., said St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa.
The one with the ski mask, who was on the front passenger side of the car, pulled a handgun out, demanded money from the man and told him to get out, Kajtsa said. Meanwhile, the one with the shirt around his head, who was on a bicycle, was poised at the driver's door, Kajtsa said.
The victim, Kyle Benjamin Field, 25, of St. Petersburg, complied, Kajtsa said. The man with the ski mask drove the car off, and the man with the shirt around his head rode off on the bicycle, Kajtsa said.
The car was found submerged in Tampa Bay, off a boat ramp at Grandview Park, at 38th Avenue South and Sixth Street, Kajtsa said.
The thieves have not been apprehended or identified.
