TAMPA — Detectives hope surveillance video of a trip to McDonald's will lead to a couple of auto-theft suspects.
Two men who abandoned a stolen Chrysler minivan about 6 a.m. on Nov. 30 left behind a receipt from their visit to the McDonald's restaurant drive-through at 3411 E. Busch Blvd. earlier that morning, Tampa police said.
Police released the video today, which shows the driver in a black ball cap ordering and paying for the fast food.
The driver and another man abandoned the Chrysler after a Tampa police officer, suspicious about the car driving slowly and stopping on a dead-end street, pulled in behind the Chrysler, police said.
After the men ran from the vehicle, the officer learned it had been stolen. Inside the Chrysler were credit cards and other documentation from two other auto burglaries at 9702 N. Edison Ave. and 1902 E. Seventh Ave. that had occurred between 9 p.m. on Nov. 29 and 5 a.m. on Nov. 30, police said.
The car also contained the McDonald's bag and receipt, police said. Investigators asked anyone with information about the men to call (813) 231-6130.
