Congratulations, Matt Bryant! The Bucs kicker has been named the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' finalist for the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award. As a finalist, Bryant receives $1,000 for the charity of his choice, which he has designated as the March of Dimes Florida Bay Division.
Each team in the National Football League selects its local Man of the Year finalist to compete for the national award to be announced during Super Bowl week in Arizona. The national winner will receive a $25,000 donation to the nonprofit organization of his choice.
Bryant previously was featured in this season's second issue of Fanatical Access, which highlighted his work for Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum's Child Predator CyberCrime Unit, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and March of Dimes. In November, the March of Dimes Florida Bay Division named Bryant and his family an ambassador family for raising awareness and funding for efforts to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. He and wife Melissa have worked closely with the organization since their son Tre was born prematurely in 2006.
Since 1970, the NFL has given the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award which recognizes players for excellence on the field as well as service in the community.
