AUBURNDALE - Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a pregnant woman during a home invasion Dec. 3.
The man knocked on the door at a home in the neighborhood of Lake Ariana Boulevard and Old Lake Alfred Road at 8:50 p.m. Waving a black handgun, the man demanded money from the victim and keys to a vehicle.
Police said he grabbed the victim, a woman in her 20s and pregnant, and took her to the side carport, where he sexually battered her. There were people in the home who were ordered to stay inside.
The suspect took money and fled on foot. The suspect was tracked by a police dog in the area of Century Boulevard and the Oakridge Apartments.
The suspect is in his late teens or early 20s. He's about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black, zipper-front hooded jacket, a black crew neck T-shirt, black shorts and black basketball sneakers with white slits. A black bandana with white designs covered the lower part of his face.
He also had one fingerless black glove on his right hand. The suspect had thick, dark eyebrows, black sideburns extending below the ears and black, tightly combed-back curly hair.
Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Kevin Spell at the Auburndale Police Department, (863) 965-5555.
