CINCINNATI - With No. 17 Xavier missing one of its best front-line players, Derrick Brown led the Musketeers to a painful but satisfying victory against their crosstown rival.

Brown scored 11 points in the final 7 minutes Wednesday night, rallying Xavier to a 64-59 victory against Cincinnati that fit their rough-and-tumble tradition.

Brown, needed more than ever after senior forward Josh Duncan landed hard and left the game in the second half, put Xavier (8-1) ahead to stay 55-53 on his driving dunk with 2:01 to go. He also hit a pair of free throws as the Musketeers extended the lead.

VANDERBILT 91, DEPAUL 85: Shan Foster and A.J. Ogilvy came through after struggling most of the night, and No. 20 Vanderbilt rallied to remain undefeated.

At 10-0, Vanderbilt is off to its best start since the 2003-04 team won its first 12. But this one didn't come easily.

The Commodores trailed 58-40 early in the second half, but came roaring back.

Foster and Ogilvy were non-factors for most of the night, but both finished with 19 points.

Draelon Burns led DePaul (2-4) with 24 points, while Mac Koshwal scored 21.

BYU 88, LAMAR 66: Lee Cummard scored a career-high 27 points and No. 25 Brigham Young won for the 36th straight time at home, beating Lamar (3-6).
Trent Plaisted added 22 points and Jonathan Tavernari scored 11 for the Cougars (8-2).

Women's Top 25

RUTGERS 53, PRINCETON 48: Epiphanny Prince scored 18 points and sparked the decisive run to lead No. 6 Rutgers (8-2) to its third straight win, over stubborn Princeton (3-8) on Wednesday night.

BAYLOR 80, OREGON 45: Angela Tisdale scored a career-high 24 points as No. 10 Baylor beat Oregon (5-4). Jhasmin Player scored 15 points and Jessica Morrow 14 for the Lady Bears (7-0).

DEPAUL 91, CHICAGO ST. 59: Guard Allie Quigley scored 23 points to lead No. 16 DePaul (8-0) past Chicago State (4-4). Guard Dierdre Naughton added 16 points. Erin Carney scored 12 points and was the only other Blue Demon in double figures. Chicago State (4-4)

NOTRE DAME 94, VALPARAISO 56: Ashley Barlow scored 15 of her 19 points in the first half and No. 17 Notre Dame forced 27 turnovers against Valparaiso (3-6) en route to its seventh straight victory.

The Irish (9-1) have won all but one of their six home games this season by at least 30 points. The seven-game winning streak is the Irish's longest since they won 10 during the 2004-05 season.
