HOUSTON - Miguel Tejada was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Houston Astros for five players Wednesday, giving the former AL MVP a fresh start on a team looking to boost its lineup.

The Orioles got outfielder Luke Scott, pitchers Matt Albers, Troy Patton and Dennis Sarfate, and third baseman Michael Costanzo for the four-time All-Star shortstop.

MARLINS STADIUM: The Florida Marlins are considering a revised proposal for a $525 million ballpark on the site of the Orange Bowl.

According to the revised proposal, the Marlins would pay $155 million up front. Miami-Dade County would pay $199 million in tourist tax dollars and $50 million from a general obligation bond.

The proposal includes a non-relocation agreement and calls for a 37,000-seat retractable-roof ballpark that would open by April 2011 and a parking garage that the city would build.

DODGERS: Jeff Kent, baseball's career leader in home runs by a second baseman, will return to play a fourth season and slugging outfielder Andruw Jones finalized his $36.2 million, two-year deal. The Dodgers declined to offer pitcher Mark Hendrickson a contract for next season. The Dodgers acquired Hendrickson from Tampa Bay on June 27, 2006, for catcher Dioner Navarro and right-hander Jae Seo.

BREWERS: Right-handed relievers Seth McClung and Greg Aquino and catcher Mike Rivera agreed to one-year contracts. McClung was 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA in 14 games after coming to Milwaukee in a trade with Tampa Bay in July.

CUBS: Reached a preliminary agreement with Japanese outfielder Kosuke Fukudome on a $48 million, four-year contract.

GIANTS: Center fielder Aaron Rowand, 30, agreed to a $60 million, five-year contract.

TIGERS: Left-hander Tim Byrdak agreed to a one-year contract but the team did not offer right-hander Chad Durbin a contract, making him a free agent.

TWINS: Declined to tender a contract to outfielder Jason Tyner, who became expendable after the acquisitions of Delmon Young and Craig Monroe.

PIRATES: Signed 15-year veteran utility infielder Chris Gomez.

YANKEES: Andy Pettitte, 35, signed a one-year, $16 million contract to return to the Yankees after contemplating retirement.
