Regarding "Class Caps Will Create Difficulties, Board Warns" (Metro, Dec. 12):
The shortsightedness of Florida voters is now painfully evident. When given the opportunity to vote on an amendment that required class size caps on Florida schools, most voters blindly pulled the "yes" lever without so much as a thought to the costs and potential negative effects of such an amendment. They never researched the fact that there was not sufficient money to pay for new classrooms, nor was there a sufficient pool of hirable teachers available to meet the demand of an increased number of classes. Now, faced with overcrowding under the new rules, some students may face relocation from their current schools.
I'll bet the ones who cry loudest when this happens will be the parents who voted for the amendment. Maybe next time they will do their homework prior to amending the Constitution with "feel good" proposals.
