TAMPA - TAMPA - Oregon QB Dennis Dixon's season-ending knee injury will cause the University of South Florida to spend more time devising its defensive scheme for the Sun Bowl.
"It makes it a little bit tougher," Bulls coach Jim Leavitt said. "We have to realize they have a different quarterback in there. We're going to have to look at what they did and then we're going to have to project what they may do."
Leavitt knows one thing won't change for the Ducks.
"They still have [RB Jonathan] Stewart," he said. "We know they're going to put the ball in his hands and then go from there."
Stewart led the Pac-10 in rushing with 1,469 yards and scored 10 TDs.
LESSON LEARNED: Leavitt didn't like how his players looked at the start of Saturday morning's practice.
"They didn't come out ready to go so we got on the goal line and ran some sprints for a while," Leavitt said. "We got that corrected right away."
After the quick motivational lesson, Leavitt said the Bulls practiced with a purpose during the rest of the workout as they prepare for Oregon.
"We'll have our game plan set by the middle of the week," Leavitt said.
ANOTHER COMMITMENT: Tarpon Springs DE Donnel Engram verbally committed to USF, Scout.com reported.
