"Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek is out of the hospital and plans to spend the holidays at home with his family as he recovers from a heart attack.
"I'm truly overwhelmed by the great show of support and compassion expressed in the past few days to me, my family and my co-workers," Trebek said Saturday after his release from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in a statement relayed by "Jeopardy" publicist Jeff Ritter.
Trebek, 67, was hospitalized Monday night after being stricken with what Ritter said was a minor heart attack.
Trebek vowed to return to the "Jeopardy" studio on Jan. 14. He said enough new episodes are on tape to fill the gap.
Letterman Wants Own Deal With Writers Guild
David Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants, jumped Saturday at the chance to negotiate independently with the Writers Guild of America, saying it was eager to make a deal with its striking writers and get new episodes of its shows on the air.
The move by Worldwide Pants, which produces the "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," could bolster the union's efforts to break apart the alliance of studios and networks with which it's been at loggerheads.
