Investigators have confirmed that a body found Friday in a van near the Sunshine Skyway bridge belonged to a man police think killed his two children, his ex-wife and her partner.
Joelle Castelli, a spokeswoman for Clearwater, said that the Manatee County medical examiner confirmed to the city that Oliver Thomas Bernsdorff, 36, had been identified through his tattoos.
The medical examiner's office referred all questions to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Bernsdorff is thought to have killed his ex-wife, Jennifer Renee Davis, 27, and her partner, Andrea Pisanello, 53, in a Largo apartment on Friday. He also is thought to have killed his and Davis' two children, Olivia, 4, and Magnus, 2, in his Clearwater home before killing himself.

Castelli said investigators were working to establish a timeline of the deaths. "With the proximity of Largo and Clearwater, it's difficult to determine the sequence," she said.
Bernsdorff was a Pinellas County teacher.
