It's A Felony Littering Case

A Dover man who dumped about 35 tires on the east side of Kingsway Road in Thonotosassa was arrested Monday and charged with a felony count of littering, Hillsborough County deputies say.

Deputies arrested Dennis Wayne Staggs, 45, at his home.

On Nov. 30, deputies say, he dumped the tires from the bed of a 1983 Ford truck.

A 17-year-old boy also was arrested and charged with a felony in the case, a criminal arrest affidavit states.

The tires, a load weighing 2,280 pounds, were taken to a landfill.

A person can be charged with a third-degree felony for illegally dumping more than 500 pounds of trash, Florida statutes show.

Staggs, of 14604 Franklin Ave., was in Orient Road Jail, with bail set at $2,000.
