Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien will return to late-night TV with fresh episodes on Jan. 2, two months after the writers' strike sent them into repeats, NBC said Monday.
The "Tonight Show" and "Late Night" will return without writers supplying jokes.
A similar return - with writers - appears in the works for David Letterman. The union representing striking writers said over the weekend that it was willing to negotiate deals with individual production companies, including Letterman's Worldwide Pants.
"Both Jay and Conan have supported their writers during the first two months of this WGA Writers Guild of America strike and will continue to support them," said Rick Ludwin, executive vice president, late night and primetime series for NBC. "However, there are hundreds of people who will be able to return to work as a result of Jay's and Conan's decision."
It's not immediately clear how each show will change in coming back without writers. The late-night programs have become less like talk shows and more like comedy shows in recent years, requiring more prepared material.
Bonham Carter, Burton Welcome Daughter
Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton have welcomed their second child, a girl, in London, the actress' representative told a magazine.
The star and director of the upcoming musical film "Sweeney Todd" are "absolutely delighted," Karon Maskill told People for a story posted Sunday on the magazine's Web site.
The actress and Burton, 49, also have a 4-year-old boy, Billy.
Anderson Files For Divorce
Former "Baywatch" beauty Pamela Anderson has filed for divorce from Rick Salomon, her husband of two months.
Anderson cited irreconcilable differences in papers filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The documents were first obtained by the celebrity Web site CelebTV.com.
Anderson and Salomon wed Oct. 6 during a break between the 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows of "Hans Klok's The Beauty of Magic" at Planet Hollywood resort in Las Vegas, where Anderson was starring as a magician's assistant. The couple separated less than 10 weeks later, on Thursday.
Hartnett Only 'Came By,' Rihanna Says
Rihanna continues to shoot down rumors that she hooked up with actor Josh Hartnett.
"This is what really happened," the 19-year-old singer tells Allure magazine. "He and my management, they have each other's contact information. I went to the New York club Pink Elephant, and he came by. All of a sudden, the next day, I'm seeing that we were kissing and hugging up each other."
"You can't even go out with a friend who's a celebrity and have a good time" without people making something up, Rihanna says in January's issue of Allure. "Well, at least he's good-looking, right?"
The Barbados-born sensation also has been romantically linked to actor Shia LaBeouf and Jay-Z, Beyonce's boyfriend. She has denied a hookup with the 38-year-old rapper, who is president of her record label, Def Jam.
