ZEPHYRHILLS - An 80-year-old man died Saturday from injuries sustained in a Dec. 6 wreck on State Road 54 at Lanier Road.
Al Cocking of Zephyrhills died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Larry Coggins said.
He is the second person to die as a result of the wreck. Joanne Schoenadel of Zephyrhills died Dec. 8. She was a passenger in the Chrysler van that Cocking was riding in, authorities said.
The van was rear-ended by a Ford Explorer driven by Judy Smith, 54, of Zephyrhills, according to the highway patrol.
Smith didn't see that the van was trying to turn left onto Lanier, the patrol reported. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.
The van's driver and other passengers also went to the hospital with injuries.
