NEW PORT RICHEY - A third annual fine arts festival has a new name, a new home and lots of new attractions.
Suncoast Arts Fest 2008, formerly known as Longleaf Fine Arts on the Village Green, is a fundraiser for arts education in Pasco County schools.
The event in late April will be at a new location: on 15 acres at State Road 54 and Starkey Boulevard at the entrance to the Longleaf development. The move is to accommodate the greatly expanded festival, said Pam Marron, president of nonprofit group Fine Arts of the Suncoast, which funds art programs in Pasco's public and private schools.
Joining the 2008 edition is the Taste of Pasco, featuring a variety of local restaurant foods.
Marron has brought fellow members of the Rotary Club of Seven Springs on board to offer beer and wine.
WMNF, 88.5 FM, radio will provide live music and coordinate other performing arts on the new entertainment stage.
A Technology Center, Emerging Artists Area and Cafe Pasco also are new for 2008.
Returning as the main feature are 80 juried visual artists and craftsmen of high-quality creations.
The festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 26 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27.
Ferman and Gulfcoast Harley-Davidson are the event's naming sponsors.
