Brandon Man With HIV Tried To Sell Sex, Deputies Say

Patrick Lynn Whaley, who knows he has HIV, agreed Tuesday to engage in a sexual activity for $200, Hillsborough County deputies say.

The 39-year-old Brandon man also offered to perform a professional massage, though he isn't a licensed massage therapist, according to a criminal arrest affidavit.

He was arrested at 10:33 a.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Avenue and Interstate 75, where the offense occurred, deputies say.

Whaley was charged with felony counts of criminal transmission of HIV and practicing health care without a license and a misdemeanor count of prostitution.

He describes himself as self-employed, the arrest affidavit states.

Whaley was taken to Orient Road Jail, and bail was set at $4,250.
