Clearwater Motorcyclist Killed In Crash On U.S. 19

A motorcyclist killed this morning on U.S. 19 has been identified as John Edward Paul Jr., 51, of 1504 S. Greenwood Ave., Clearwater.
Paul's 2001 Kawasaki was one of two or three motorcycles weaving in and out of traffic north on U.S. just past Drew Street about 2:30 a.m., said the city's public safety spokeswoman, Elizabeth Daly-Watts.
Paul tried to change lanes behind a 1998 Ford Explorer driven by 18-year-old Tarryne Rogers, 170 Melrose Drive, Safety Harbor, Daly-Watts said.
Paul hit the rear of the SUV and was thrown from his motorcycle.
Witnesses said the motorcycles were traveling at speeds of up to 100 mph, Daly-Watts said.
