A Brandon teen turned himself in Friday to face one count of second-degree vehicular homicide in the Nov. 16 death of a Riverview man, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Justin Maye, 17, was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. at the county courthouse in Tampa and was released on his own recognizance by Hillsborough Circuit Judge Chris Sabella, according to a jail report.
Maye was "driving at an excessive speed and recklessly" when his 2007 Ford Fusion collided with a 2001 Ford F-150 on FishHawk Boulevard near Osprey Ridge Drive, sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said.
The pickup's driver, Robert Hardy, 69, was driving east on FishHawk. Maye was headed west and was passing a vehicle by entering the eastbound lane when he spun out of control and hit the front of the truck.
Hardy died at the scene. Maye and his 16-year-old passenger, Andrew Gunnow, were rushed to Tampa General Hospital and were later released.
