Published: December 21, 2007

Adam Sollazzo is the high scoring, 6-foot-5 point guard for the Armwood boys basketball team. He currently leads the Hawks (5-5) with 23.3 points, 6.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. As a junior, he was named to the Tampa Bay Basketball Coaches Association All-Star team and was a Western Conference second-team selection. He currently has interest from schools like USF, Mercer, Elon and Florida Gulf Coast.

When did you think you started to develop your ball-handling skills?

Probably when I was little. I wasn't the tallest kid in the world. I was really short when I was in middle school so I learned that I had to ... I couldn't out-jump anyone and I wasn't the quickest ... so I had to be fundamental and get past people with pump fakes and anything I could pull out.

Who do you think is a better TV color analyst, Dick Vitale or John Madden?

Personally, I don't think anyone can beat Dicky V. He's got the enthusiasm. He's a little bit crazy, which somehow works for him. You can't really beat Dicky V. That's when you know you're watching college basketball when you're listening to him.

Who are your top five favorite college teams right now?

Well, I grew up watching Duke, and that's every boy's dream to go to Duke. Memphis is pretty good; I like how they play. Florida. I think freshman guard Nick Calathes is doing really well. I like him. I like going to watch USF because it's local and I like the style of ball they play. And probably North Carolina. I like their big man, Tyler Hansbrough.

What music do you listen to before games?

A little bit of rapper Lil' Wayne. He gets me going before the games. Before a pretty intense game I like to listen to rock to get me pumped up. Usually, we like to throw the other team off during warm-ups. Like, if we know one team is into hip-hop, we usually come out to some rock songs. When Brandon came, we came out to rock. When we played Newsome, and they're not usually the most hip-hop school, so we came out to hip-hop songs.

Does that psych them out?

Sometimes. Our rock songs are pretty scary, so it freaks some people out.
