Gaborik's outburst was the biggest in the league since Sergei Fedorov scored five for Detroit on Dec. 26, 1996, in an overtime game against Washington.
PENGUINS 5, BRUINS 4: Sidney Crosby scored a goal, assisted on two by Evgeni Malkin, and dropped the gloves for the first time in the NHL to spur Pittsburgh to a shootout victory over Boston.
CANADIENS 5, CAPITALS 2: Guilliaume Latendresse scored two goals in his return from a benching as Montreal beat Washington.
THRASHERS 3, SENATORS 2: Todd White's power-play goal 47 seconds into the third period broke a tie and helped Atlanta snap Ottawa's winning streak at six.
PANTHERS 5, HURRICANES 4: Brett McLean scored the winner, and Florida moved above .500 for the first time this season with a win over Carolina.
BLUES 3, RED WINGS 2: Keith Tkachuk and Lee Stempniak scored power-play goals to help St. Louis beat Detroit.
